Greetings Cobra Family,
My name is Jamal Edward Harris and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Fulton County Schools. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from “The” Fort Valley State University. While attending Fort Valley State University, I was a proud member of the “Blue Machine” Marching Band and participated in several clubs and organizations. I went on further to obtain a Master of Science degree in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University. Along my educational journey, I have served in Houston, Bibb and Peach counties. I taught 9th grade science for 4 years, and 7th grade science for 7 years. I also coached basketball and baseball during my teaching years. I served as an Assistant Principal for 3 years at Hunt Elementary School in Fort Valley, Ga. During my tenure as assistant principal, several accomplishments took place including exiting the CSI(Comprehensive Support and Improvement) List in 2 years, fifty percent decrease in discipline referrals, increase in parent approval ratings, and increases in student and teacher attendance. I also started and led a mentoring group for 5th grade male students called Young Men in the Making (YMITM).
I currently reside in Byron, Georgia with my lovely wife, Che’ and three beautiful daughters, Rylyn, Marlee, and Nova. Oh yea, we also have 2 dogs. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, preferably events involving sports. I also enjoy music and all aspects of it. Singing, listening, and even playing a few instruments is one of my favorite pastimes. Just as I love to enjoy life on a personal level, I thoroughly enjoy being in the field of education as well. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to be the principal of Twiggs County Middle High School. I truly believe that just as teaching is a calling, being chosen to lead is a calling as well. Good leaders are also good servants in that they support whomever they lead. I plan to support each and every student, teacher and parent as we work together keeping the students’ best interest at heart. I have a genuine love for children and my passion for helping every child reach their maximum potential will dictate the manner in which I lead. I am ecstatic about the limitless possibilities that I foresee at Twiggs County Middle High School and I look forward to collaborating with the community of Twiggs in efforts to ensure that our students are afforded the best educational experience possible.
